I believe in authenticity and meeting you as a fellow human.

Jennifer Anderson (IMT3472)

I believe beauty is found in the vulnerable, brave moments when you choose to explore and grow. When you have space to discover and be your authentic self there is an expansiveness, which can sometimes feel like re-planting to a new pot – one with room to grow. It is important to me to honor your vulnerability, and work with you on releasing what is holding you back. It is okay to be exactly where you are right now and seek ways to move forward.

Relationships are integral to wholeness and well-being.

We are relational beings and I believe our greatest transformations take place in relationships: friendships, family, chosen family, and romantically. I also recognize that relationships can be pain points so I seek to offer space for unpacking and healing. I work with all gender expressions and identities as well as the myriad of relationship identities from monogamous to polyam. Regardless if you are exploring precommitment/premarital to celebrating fifty+ years of togetherness, I work from a foundation of openness, curiosity, respect and accountability to power (ORCA). I am also pursuing specialized training in sex therapy as I believe our sexuality is a part of our wholeness and authenticity.

I am truly passionate about journeying with you as you move through your life experiences and toward your goals.

My training has included work with individuals, families, and couples working on issues ranging from depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions and relationship counseling. I feel especially passionate about helping you work through grief, spiritual roadblocks, and the intensity that life can sometimes bring.

Grief can be messy and unbearable – it throws you into a dark tunnel and threatens to keep you there. It can happen after the loss of a beloved person, or a pet, estrangement of a relationship, or ambiguous losses that can come with life transitions. If it is getting in the way of the life you deeply desire to live, I hope to collaborate to honor the grief and find ways for healing that are most authentic to you, relieving the stress and anxiety that can come with mourning.

Nourishing your spirit is a part of wholeness.

The spirit piece of us can be expressed in a myriad of ways. Some feel more spiritual, others find deep meaning in faith traditions and religious institutions, some find it harder to connect to that piece of them. How do you tend the spirit? Especially when it feels that the spirit has been hurt and harmed at the hands of faith traditions and religious institutions that once felt certain and safe? Shame, guilt, confusion, disappointment, anger – these, and more, can show up when your spirit is wounded. I strive to witness and walk with you to help untangle any confusion, set boundaries, and release shame. This will look as nuanced and unique as you and your story. I honor this as sacred work that is always led by you, your beliefs, and where you hope to go.

Thriving even when the world feels extra chaotic and loud.

In a culture that rewards competition and is often chaotic it can feel especially loud to those who identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and/or an Empath. As a fellow HSP, I understand the challenges and am passionate about helping you find ways to thrive – not just survive – the world around you. I hope to collaborate on ways to relieve anxiety, overwhelm, and low self-esteem. If you are unfamiliar with the terms HSP or Empath, but this is resonating I would be happy to explore and collaborate with you and your goals.

A bit about my story:

I am a recent transplant from Seattle, Washington and am soaking up the tropical warmth and sunshine. I am a deep feeler and love tapping into my creative side. I received my Masters of Science degree from Seattle Pacific University in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a registered marriage and family therapist intern and I am also a Licensed Associate in Washington state. This means I am under the supervision of an approved supervisor (Emy Tafelski, MT3066) and working toward becoming a fully Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am certified to administer the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship inventory, and have completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1 and am pursuing further training in sex therapy. I tend to use an integrated approach to therapy strongly pulling from Narrative Therapy, mindfulness, and art/writing integration.
