About Emy M. Tafelski

I believe wholeheartedly in the amazing potential of each human being.

It is my passion to help you reach your potential, live your best life, have your most fulfilling relationships and connections.

I believe in the importance of love and connection.

We are social beings. The fact that we love and connect is more important than how and who we love. I am accepting of all of the different ways people love and connect with each other consensually.

I believe that most everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives.

Sometimes people get stuck. Relationships sometimes need a refresher or hit a rocky road.  Sometimes something from the past comes along and bites us or we have a new piece of insight that we don’t quite know what to do with. Therapy is a safe place to explore any of these things and many more.

I believe in the value of authenticity – knowing who you truly are and acting from a place of personal truth.

This is a place that is often covered over by things from the past and by the “shoulds” and “musts” placed on us by ourselves and others. Living with authenticity helps us find our purpose and move toward our best life.

I believe in looking at things from a holistic view point.

Mind, body and spirit are all important aspects of who we are and I take all into consideration.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is vitally important to the work that we do together.

To that end a good fit is crucial. I encourage you to talk to me, ask me questions, and determine if you believe that we are a good fit. If we are not a fit I will do my best to help you find someone who is a better fit for you.

Just the Facts…

I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology). Before entering this field I was a yoga teacher, instilling in me a great appreciation for acceptance, and present moment awareness.

I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT); American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT); and National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF).

I have completed the training needed to become a certified sex therapist in the state of Florida, and am working toward my certification with AASECT as a sex therapist as well.

I am currently engaged in training to obtain my certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT).  EFT is one of the most effective forms of couples therapy and I believe that it is an incredible way to bring about change.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the state of Florida (MT3066).
